Job Description
The Network Engineer will provide design, implementation and support to the company’s customers. This is a position for a very independent Engineer who also works well with a team. This individual must be both technically savvy and customer friendly.
- Conducts analysis, prepares reports, and works on project implementation. They may serve as technical liaison with vendors.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of network communications.
- Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks.
- Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
- Conducts feasibility studies on strategic and tactical plans, designs digital/analog networks, and evaluates network services/technology for current and future network development.
- Performs complex technical analysis of software, hardware, and network systems, systems integration for front-end processors, multiplexes, LAN/WAN communications, network nodes, switches, and various transmission systems.
- Plans, designs, and implements networked systems, including configurations, supporting/troubleshooting network problems and coordinating with vendors for installation of such items as routers, bridges, concentrators and switches.
Required Skills
- 2 years Cisco experience - LAN/WAN plus Unified Communications, Wireless, and/or Security
- CCNA
- Ability to demonstrate fundamental technical understanding of communications networks, such as protocols, network components, design elements and architecture
- Must demonstrate intermediate knowledge of platform operating systems (router platforms, LAN, WAN, and router protocols) and how they interact with the network
- Must possess fundamental network troubleshooting skills necessary to perform operational and support functions
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Previous Presales and/or consulting experience is a big bonus
- Certifications like CCVP, CCSP and MCSE would be considered a plus.
- Cisco wireless and VMware skills are a bonus
Excellent base salary plus commission.
