Position Description:
The System Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This is an excellent opportunity for an experience Administrator to join a dynamic company and play a major role in maintaining and improving the company’s infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform network design and capacity planning. (5%)
· Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery. (5%)
· Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors for installation secure network products and services. (5%)
· Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts. (5%)
· Manage servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software. (20%)
· Recommend, schedule, and administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades and repairs. (5%)
· Administer, maintain, and properly document end user accounts, permissions, and access rights. (5%)
· Perform server and security audits, system backups and recovery. (10%)
· Implement and maintain Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Citrix Presentation Server Environment, VMWare ESX Farms, and other Enterprise level High Availability Products as required for Best in Class Network performance. (20%)
· Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports. (10%)
Qualifications:
· College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 6-7 years equivalent work experience.
· Certifications in Microsoft Networking / Operating systems
· Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP.
· Extensive application support experience with Active Directory 2003, Microsoft Office 2003, and various Virus Scanning Software.
· Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
· Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
· Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
· Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
