Technical Account Manager

Location: Houston, TX

Company

This position is with a software development firm specializing in solutions for the Oil & Gas industry, specifically drilling and wellsite management.  Their applications are at the technological forefront of the industry and have pushed the bounds of other firms utilizing conventional industry technology.  As a result they have continued to grow substantially despite the recent downturn in the O&G industry.

Responsibilities

The primary role of the Technical Account Manager (TAM) is to build relationships with customers by providing best practices, technical support, and training on the application. The ideal candidate is technologically savvy with excellent communication skills and knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry. The TAM is responsible for client consulting, new customer implementation, ongoing troubleshooting, new user training, and report template creation.

You will receive a high degree of training on all aspects of the application.

  • Consultative duties in advising clients with best utilization of the system
  • Troubleshooting over the phone and email for technical support of users in the field
  • Report creation and designing (largely Excel based, advanced formulas)
  • New user training
  • Coordination of bugs, break/fix with internal technical departments

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced Excel skills (ability to work with VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, IF functions)
  • 1-2 years’ experience over the phone Customer Services and Application Support
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, customer requests, and business tasks
    • 1-3 years’ professional experience in one of the following positions with a service or operating company
      • Engineering Technician (Drilling & Completions)
      • Production Technician
      • Regulatory
      • Land or Accounting
    • Preferred experience administrating one of the following O&G applications
      • WellView
      • SiteView
      • Neofirma
      • OpenWells
      • eVin
      • Carte
      • Production Explorer
      • Field Direct
  • Able to make a significant contribution in a small, proactive, collaborative team environment
